Italian Greyhounds from Heather Meadow

I started our kennel “From Heather Meadow” in 1977. We began with a black female Great Dane “Ketta Mi Mag” that I had bought with  my husband before we got married. In 1979 we had our first puppies: 4 female and 2 boys. After that we had to finish our adventure with Great Dane because we moved out from Poznan and did not have conditions to have such big dogs.

One day I read somewhere about Italian greyhounds as a bit exotic and unapproachable breed, but on the other hand with a fantastic character that answered my needs. Accidentally I found an advertisement about the kennel “Z Zielonego Placu”. On that way came to us our first Italian Greyhound, he was a blue boy and we called him Bartek (Bob). He was a great companion of our children, and a good friend of a whole family that bravely participated in our frequent trips.

In 1989 at The World Dog Show in Poznan I saw beautiful Italian Greyhunds from the Danish kennel “Il Cagnolino”. Thanks to Birthie and Susie, after three years of efforts and their recommendations, I bought a black Italian greyhound “Vindhauses Bennato”. He had a great, individual character. He was also a multiple champion of shows in Poland, Denmark, Netherlands and Germany. He is a father of altogether 35 puppies, some of them went to Vilinius, Lithuania and Lvov, Ukraine.

In the meantime I tried again to get a female from the kennel “Vindhauses”, but finally I bought my best loved boy “Vindhauses Orcino” (color isabel). Later he was a champion of many Polish and international dog shows.
We now have in our kennel after “Vindhauses Bennato” his doughter “Clio Nic Wielkiego” and after her and “Vindhauses Orcino” we have “Backie and Bessie “Z Wrzosowej Łąki”. We also have another dog “Apollonia Di Branco Piccolo”, black female with Chech-Dutch roots.

Our Italians are equal members of our family and are loved by each and every of us!

We invite everybody interested in this breed to contact with us!
